LET'S TAKE A WALKABOUT...
Walkabout by James Vance Marshall
For this project, we read the book "Walkabout," so what is the story about?
Two children from Charleston, South Carolina are the only survivors from a plane crash that was going to Adelaide, Australia. They are now left all alone in the Australian wilderness with absolutely no chance of survival, not until they meet upon an Australian Aborigine. The Aborigine helps them survive and teaches them skills to help them survive in the desert. He shows them how to kill fish, how to suck clean water out of a muddy water hole, and how to make fire. Along the way, they learn about hunting-gatherering, racism, friendship, and perhaps even had their own little "walkabout."
