The First Cities
The first cities appeared in Mesopotamia. Since farming and agriculture began in the Fertile Crescent, near the Mediterranean, it is not surprising that the first cities began there also.
Agriculture also began in Egypt, in the Nile Valley around that time. Farming started spreading and cities became states. Population kept growing and farming societies became more common. 3,000 years later, we see it happen in China. Soon, people all around the world started to farm.
